About the Cat

CATWIRED's mascot - Tesla - is the work of Illustrator Don Sommers. Our designer saw the cat and immediately fell in love with the image. We all liked the cat too and wanted to find a way to use the illustration.

At that time Global Currence was considering a name change as the business took on a new direction. The suggestion was made to change the company name to CATWIRED.com and use the cat as the mascot. As the saying goes, the rest is history.

Our cat is named in recoginition of Nikola Tesla. Tesla developed all the components for the system of AC power generation and transmission that is used universally throughout the world today. And what would the internet be without electricity?
